Membership in the Sustainable Catering Association
Based in Portland, Oregon, the Sustainable Catering Association is a membership-based trade association dedicated to supporting and expanding Sustainability within the Catering Industry. Our vision is to offer education and awareness programs, knowledge sharing, professional development, and networking opportunities for Catering professionals and the related business community.
Membership in the Sustainable Catering Association is open to individuals and organizations who embrace the culinary culture, whether they are professionals, food service corporations, allied professions, or students. Various membership categories offer benefits for each type of interest. Each member takes a Pledge Toward Sustainability for their business.
Membership Details
There are currently five types of memberships:
- Founding Member
- Sustaining Member – 1 person
- Sustaining Member - 2 people
- Student Member
- Vendor/Supplier Member
Founding Member
The Founding Member designation is an elite membership offered to a limited number of members for a limited time period. A Founding Member will be intimately involved in the development of the Association, sharing in the excitement and educational activities on the internet and at Association events.
Founding Members will be eligible to be featured in educational videos, case studies, media outreach, and other opportunities whether they have already developed some sustainable practices or are just beginning. These opportunities will allow the Founding Member to highly leverage the public relations value of their membership in the Association.
Special features for the Founding Members will also be made on the membership directory pages. In addition, a listing on the front page of the Association website as a Founding Member will be provided, including a live link to the member’s website, giving additional recognition for the member’s leadership in the culinary profession.

Sustaining Member
The Sustaining Member is committed to the Triple Bottom Line: People, Planet, and Profit. Sustaining Members learning about Best Practices in Sustainability and integrating them into their business.

Student Member
Culinary students or other students including those who are interested in Sustainability or Environmental Studies or other related topics are eligible to join the Sustainable Catering Association. A student must be currently enrolled and willing to supply a copy of student ID, upon request.
